Hockey and the Domrose Family
Our first date was to a Blackhawk game. Our life together since that day has always been touched by hockey. If I asked Pat which he liked more the Sox or the Blackhawks I’m sure he’d pick the Blackhawks.
He’s played hockey since he was a little kid. Our son played hockey from the time he was 7 years old. They would both be on the old guys league by now but, I can guarantee if they were in the same state they would have been together last night. Most of the Blackhawk players are our daughter Megan’s age. Last year Megan won tickets to a play-off game. She could have taken anyone she wanted, but she picked her Dad. They had the best time, Megan still talks about Patrick Kane’s hat-trick that night.
It was a nail biter last night. But in the end the Blackhawks pulled it off. I was in the other room when Patrick Kane made the goal. I’m sure you could hear Pat scream all the way to Philly. Then it went eerily quiet. I went in the room and there was my husband still sitting on the edge of his chair-staring at the TV. He didn’t say a word. I’m not sure he even noticed me. Then he said, “Man these kids can play.”
It was a great night for the Domrose Family. The only way this could have been better is if we had figured out a way to have Pat at the actual game. I’ve already started saving for next year.
