Some things do change for the better
Today most of my family got together to celebrate Gram Coopers 99th birthday. I saw people today that I don’t usually get to see and that’s always a good time.
But today it struck me that something had changed, something I noticed. Something Gram had said before but I didn’t pay much attention.
My brother Bob and my Gram were sitting talking about baseball. He was quiet and Gram was looking at him and laughing. She patted him on the arm and said “Oh Bob” she was grinning from ear to ear. He made her day. He took the time to sit with her and talk with her about something she enjoyed.
In my opinion this was the best gift Gram got today. It didn’t cost a thing and she may not remember because of her age, but for that moment in time Bob was hers. Her youngest grandson had given her the gift of his time.
Why am I writing about this? What impressed me enough to write about this? Well in his entire life Gram really didn’t know what to do with my brother, he was a boy and she had trouble relating to him. But as she got older whatever it was melted away. She absolutely adores him. She goes on and on about what a nice guy he is, she’s always telling me about how Bob talks to her about baseball.
My brother gave my Gram a wonderful gift today and I wanted to do something nice for him. Thanks Bob for being the nice guy we all know you are deep down.
